It does take some effort to get motivated into doing things your just not used to but usually once you are there it's a lot easier and becomes fun and exciting also.
I was reading a couple of proverbs the other day that I will share with you here, "As you think, so you become" and "Wherever you go, there you are". As always, your mind leads the way, no matter what you attempt to achieve in life.
When starting any sort of dieting plan or exercise program, and especially if you have had a few negative outcomes in the past to lose weight you need at the very least to examine the way you think, and if necessary change your thoughts so they are more in line with the result you want.
If you want to lose weight and start getting the attention you've always wanted and feel better about yourself then if it is truly going to happen, your thoughts must be focused with that end goal.
Like most people out there you have been going about it the wrong way. Your trying to take action before you have worked on changing your mind. The mind is a very powerful tool and once you identify the negative thoughts you need to start changing them to positive thoughts and what your going to look like and feel like when you reach your goal weight. It can be done millions of us have already been there.
Negative thoughts kill your motivation to either lose weight or get into better shape, or in most cases both. It's easier to eat poorly because you have been doing it for so long or it's easier to skip a workout because your tired and you body is used of rest.
So just don't think about it, Do it! Do it! Do it!
